However, people who are planning to run a marathon need to commit to a running schedule and put in a lot of practice so that they are able to go the distance. Here are some of the benefits of getting a running buddy:

Motivating Each Other

There are sure to be days when you don’t want to get out of bed, let alone train to run a marathon. However, knowing that a running buddy is ready and waiting for you to start your morning run is likely to provide extra motivation as you will not want to let them down. Once you actually start running you are sure to be glad that you did.

Pushing Each Other

Being tired and calling it quits is simply not an option when you have a running buddy right by your side. You are much more likely to go the distance when you have someone running with you and you can have fun pushing each other and setting the pace so you can go further than you may have ever thought possible and before you know it you will be ready for the marathon. You can also time each other and try to shave valuable minutes off your running time little by little.

Getting the Competitive Edge

Of course, a big part of running a marathon is about having the drive to want to be the first person to cross the finish line. When you have a running buddy you will also have someone to compete against and you are likely to push each other harder as you try to beat your running buddy and dig deeper to get ahead of them.
